TECHNOLOGY UPDATE

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

Students in grades 7-12 recently attended Digital Citizenship training.  As our district continues to implement new and exciting technology tools for our students and staff, we are committed to teaching not only our school curriculum, but also the responsibilities that accompany them. If you wish, view the slideshow, and please talk to your student about responsible technology use.

GOOGLE APPS FOR EDUCATION

As a leader in providing and using technology to expand learning opportunities for students, the Cole R-V School District is proud to partner with Google Apps for Education (GAFE).

Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a comprehensive online suite of productivity applications, provided at no charge for educational institutions. GAFE will make it possible for students to use the Internet to:

  • work together virtually on documents, presentations and projects;
  • store files online, often eliminating the need for flash drives between home and school;

  • use email addresses for communication in a safe and structured environment;

  • access online learning tools for storytelling, concept mapping, video editing and more.

A letter to parents and permission slip were distributed Jan 4-8 to all K-12 students.  Please return the permission slip as soon as possible.  Cole R-V appreciates your support as we work to leverage collaboration tools for 21st century teaching and learning!

WEBSITE & CALENDAR UPDATES

Cole R-V has made several improvements to our school website, online calendar, and facility reservation process.  These changes will streamline and improve communication with our district patrons.

School Website:  Visit the Cole R-V website (www.coler-v.k12.mo.us) for all news and events! Timely news updates are featured on the homepage, separated in three sections:

  • District News (includes early dismissals, weather cancellations, and news directed to all district patrons)
  • Elementary News (news and events for elementary students)
  • Junior High/High School News  (news and events for junior high / high school students)

Online Calendar:  ALL facility reservations and school events are located on the online school calendar. It is located on school website, on the top left corner of the homepage. Click the EVENTS CALENDAR title to display the entire month of activities, and then click individual events for more details.  Or, get a quick glance at Upcoming Events, located directly beneath the Online Calendar. There are three categories of event listings:

  • RED - School Events
  • BLACK - Activities (Athletics & Clubs)
  • GRAY - Facility Usage

Event / Facility Reservation Form:  Cole R-V now has an online form to reserve a district facility, or add school events to our online calendar, website or district newsletter.  The form is located in the QUICK LINKS section on the website home page.  All requests are automatically sent to Mr. Mike Phillips (Activities Director) for approval, then forwarded to appropriate personnel.
